Happy Birthday Maci

Sadie's best friend, according to her, turned 3 recently.  We were able to go to her cupcake party.  It was great, we enjoyed a wonderful brunch and had fun watching the kids play.


Then we sat down to decorate cupcakes...the kids LOVED getting to decorate their own!

I love Sadie's face in this picture.  She seems to be saying "the best part of my cupcake is missing".  Oh and no, it was not a costume party.  Sadie just feels the need to "slip into something a little more fancy" whenever she gets the chance...

She actually did a really good job decorating her cupcake...

My new chair

Last year around this time we went to a flea market/garage sale event in town.  I found this chair and fell in love.  They were asking $20 for it...

I thought it was a really sweet chair and looked to be in good condition. Beau could not see it's potential past the fabric. We left without the chair (since we were in my car). For the rest of the afternoon I thought about the chair and how much I wanted it. I convinced Beau I needed it for my Mother's Day gift and would eventually use it in the nursery. (and by convinced I mean I quickly stated my case and jumped in his truck and took off!) When I got back to the chair they gave it to me for $10!

I brought it home and since I didn't know exactly what I was I was going to do with it I didn't want to have it recovered yet.  I cleaned it up and made a little slip cover for it and put it in the guest room where it stayed for almost a year...

When I got pregnant and started working on the nursery I found some fabric I liked.  Then I was sent to a man to get it re-upholstered for a reasonable price.  Now it looks great!

When I get the nursery finished I will take another picture of it in the room.  It looks great though...

I FINALLY took the kids to the dentist.  My pediatrician has really been on me to take Elijah and now since Sadie is 3 its time to take her.  I HATE the dentist though...so it was really hard to talk myself into it.  I'm happy to say there were no tears on our trip...and the kids did great too!!

I went first (even though Elijah wanted to) to show the kids it wasn't bad.  I tried my hardest not to squirm and make bad faces. 

Elijah did great...and the dentist pointed out he has his first loose tooth.  So Elijah has been wiggling it all the time...it'll be out soon!

Sissy did great too!  Though she only got her teeth counted.  Not really fair, but whatever.

Ant Farming

Last summer I bought Elijah an ant farm from FAO Schwartz in NYC.  We gave it to him for Christmas and just now got around to actually ordering the ants. 

First we read all the instructions...

Then realized we had to let it sit overnight.  So we came back the next day to introduce the ants to their new home...

We're running a zoo over here!!

The Graduate

Last night my baby graduated from preschool.  I cannot believe he's going to be starting kindergarten in August! 

 

The evening started with a school-wide program.  I love that he still wants to wave to me from the stage, though...
