Sadie turns 4!!

I forgot to post about Sadie's 4 year check up!!

We went the week after she turned 4.  She was very brave during the whole thing.  She started off letting our favorite nurse, Layla check her blood pressure.  It was great.

Then she had her vision checked.  Perfect.

Next she had her hearing screen.  Fail.  They weren't sure if she just didn't understand how to do it or if she really couldn't hear, but we'll come back to that later.

She got weighed...and had her height measured.

Here are Sadie's 4 year measurements:

Weight - 37 lbs 8 oz  = 70%
Height - 3 ft  5 in  =  77%
BMI  - 15.7  =  62%

Dr Popejoy thought Sadie's height may have been accurate because it said that she grew 4 inches since last year's visit.  I told her I would not doubt it for a minute.  She really shot up!!!  I know she grew over an inch just between August and January!

We went back to the testing room to retry the hearing test after explaining to Sadie, at length, the rules of "the hearing game".  She failed again.  She heard all the tones except the very highest tone.  Dr Popejoy said she had a little fluid in her ears, but not enough that it should effect her hearing.  She wants us to come back on a day that she hasn't been at school all day.  So we'll see.

A little about my Sadie...she is the funniest, wittiest kid I have ever been around.  She has more facial expressions than 20 "normal" kids put together.  She still can't pronounce her Ls.  She has to have her hair fixed all the time...even in bed at night while she sleeps.  She LOVES clothes.  She usually changes a few time a day.  She hates blue jeans, loves tutu's (any skirt is called a tutu).  She is the most fun kid to give presents to because she is SO very excited about anything you give her.  Even a bag of clothes, shoes or pajamas will illicit squeals and screams.  She will usually strip down right there to put on her new clothes.  She still loves anything frilly and girly like princesses, Barbies, fairies, etc.  Her favorite foods are cheese, sausage, pickles, olives, and +anything she can dip in Ranch dressing  Her favorite colors are pink and purple.  She has finally learned to swing herself, but has no desire to learn to ride a bike.  She begs me to let her go to Kindergarten this next year.  She keeps telling me "Mom, I promise I'll do good.  I'm big now...please let me go!"  I have no doubt she would do fine, but I keep telling her how much fun preschool will be next year!

A quick story.  The big kids do bedtime in Sadie's bed.  While Sadie and I were waiting on Elijah I called to him "Come on Elijah, lets go!!"  to which Sadie yelled, "Ya, come on Woozer!!" (Loser) I said "Sadie, don't say that!  Where did you hear that?"  She replied, with a slight eye roll, "Don't worry, Mom, I don't even know what it means"  Ha! Ha! Ha!  We had a conversation about not saying things if we don't know what they mean until after you talk to Mom or Dad about it!!  Its never a dull moment with this girl.  She has my heart.

New York, New York!!

I have friends in high places!!  My BFF, Mandy has been given the incredible opportunity to live in Manhattan for 3 years.  So I forced myself to go visit her! ;)  I decided to take Jack since her daughter, Piper is still nursing and we were mostly just wanting to hang out.  We decided the next time I come we'll go sans kids and go out.  Jack and I got up early on Tuesday, loaded up our stuff, dropped off Elijah at school and headed to the airport.

When we arrived at the airport (and hour and a half early like a good traveler) I found out our flight was delayed 2.5 hours.  Nice.  So it got to be nap time and still no plane.  Poor kid just passed out...

He woke up again when we were getting ready to load the plane, but couldn't stand it.  Poor kid.

Our flight was about 3 hours, then we waited a while in Newark for a shuttle, then spent over an hour on a shuttle before arriving to Mandy and Brett's apartment in NYC.  Poor Jack had had ENOUGH!  We had been traveling 12 hours!!

We were pooped!!  But we had to freshen up.  Piper and Jack hardly got to know each other before we stripped them down and threw them in the tub together.

Piper just LOVED Jack.  Every time he looked at her she just cackled!!

The next morning we hit the town.  One of Mandy's friends let me and Jack borrow a good stroller.  We walked all around her neighborhood and through the park (they live about a block from Central Park).  We had sushi with a friend of Mandy's and headed back to the apartment to let the kids nap.

The weather was just great.  Mandy said it was the first really nice weather they've had there.  I guess I'm a lucky charm!
Can you tell we were a little late to nap time!!

While we were cooking dinner I caught the kids playing.  Jack was really relaxing while he watched some cartoons!!

On Thursday we decided to go to Chelsea to the market.  It is supposed to be one of Rachael Ray's favorite places.  We were highly let down. It just really wasn't what we were expecting.  We got a recommendation for lunch so we went to The Park for lunch.  It was great!  We had a wonderful pizza!!
After lunch I picked Jack up and noticed we had a Code Brown on our hands. I took him to the bathroom which did not have a changing table!  The poop was EVERYWHERE and it smelled SO bad.  I was just praying no one would walk in and catch us defiling the bathroom.

Playing!!

Jack loved this table in Mandy's apartment.

He just kept going back to it...

The only problem was he couldn't get off.

We took a quick walk Friday morning and got the big kids some souvenirs.  We returned Sarah's stroller and got back to the apartment just in time to catch my shuttle back to the airport.

We had to get to the airport an hour and a half early but luckily our flight was on time.  I tried entertaining him.  We rode through the apartment like a parade.  He waved and "talked" to everyone we passed.

We looked at the planes...

Jack tried to board early...

He even made a new friend...

Once we got on our flight home he was pooped.
We had such a great time and cannot wait to go back!!

66 Club

My precious girl was inducted into the 66 Club the Sunday after her 4th birthday!  She can say all 66 books of the Bible.  She was presented her first real Bible (with her name on it) infront of the congregation (with a few other 66 Club members behind her)!!
I'm so proud of her!!
