Cooking with Sadie!!

For Christmas I got Sadie a princess cookbook.  I think I may be the best mom ever (according to Sadie).  I have noticed there is not much in life Sadie seems passionate about...save cooking!!  She will stop ANYTHING if I invite her to cook.  I've (mostly) loved this wonderful bonding experience with my girl.

Our first recipe to try is Bulls Eye Pizza.

I made the crust and Sadie did the rest...

 Umm...ok.

Here goes the first bite!!
 It was a success!!

Our next recipe was a smoothie...

She was trying to hold her ears why she held the blender...

Then she realized it wasn't that bad...

Yumm!!

That same day we also decided to make some mini chocolate chip cookies for an after-school snack.

The best part!!

I've never known a kid with more facial expressions!!

I could get used to this!!

We tried a little healthier treat for our next cooking adventure...

Mixing the dip...

It needs to chill...

Another excellent treat!!

How about some scones!!

A little of this...a little of that...

Has anyone looked so cute kneading dough...

Well, maybe.

Brew some tea...it's time for scones!!

Here's the first bite...

Not too bad...

"I am an excellent cook!!"

 Next time: Monkey bread

Making the dough...

Elijah decided to join us...

Kneading is hard work!

Rolling the balls...

heading to the oven...

 Fresh from the oven!

Fish cakes anyone??

I think Elijah was playing on the phone so we missed our action shots.  But we still got some yummy fish cakes for dinner!!

I love that she loves cooking as much as I do.  Its so fun to share in this hobby with my sweet girl.  Here's to many more years and many more dishes!!

Merry Christmas!!

Our family Christmas card picture for 2013

I woke up on Christmas morning to a quiet house...

Then I found Elijah watching TV.  He saw me and said "Hey Mom!  Look at all the presents!  But everyone is still sleeping so I'm just being quiet."  Have I mentioned I love this child?

We started off by reading about the birth of Jesus...

Then we started on the gifts!

Sadie got a robe!

She loves it!! Just like her mom!

Jack got a phone!

Which he spent the rest of the morning "talking" on...

A Red Power Ranger suit!!!

Sadie got a cookbook.  It is her favorite thing to do (again, just like her mom)!

She already started picking out what we could make that day!

Still on the phone...

Even when he was opening another gift it didn't leave his hand...

Stockings!!!

And of course....a silly face picture!

Then it was time for the final gift!  The kids had NO idea!!  They were SO excited!!

I finally caved under the peer pressure.  Every year (for the past 5 years) I have made Monte Cristo Sandwiches for Christmas breakfast.  No one but me liked them.  But I had stated a tradition so I told myself they would grow to like them.  Nope.  They never did.  So this year I decided I would start a NEW tradition (can you tell I love tradition?)....French Toast!!

She finally left the trampoline to try out her other gift...hair rollers!!

It was a wonderful Christmas Day!!
