My sweetheart

This year I got a very special treat for my birthday.  The Mother/Son Banquet was the night of my birthday.  Elijah was SO excited to take me out on a date for my birthday.

He was ready over an hour early.  So precious.

He was a perfect gentleman!  It was a Luau theme.  We had burgers and ice cream sundaes.  We were entertained by the senior boys. It was one of the coldest days of the year and the building didn't have heat!  We were freezing!  But we had a great night together sitting with Koby and Kristi Fajardo.

This boy stole my heart!

Super Sweet Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day!

I was Room Mom this year for Elijah's 1st Grade Class.  I tried to think of something special for his class party.  Someone gave me the idea of the chocolate fountain!  I just happened to have one!  the kids loved it!!

Elijah's sweet friend, Koby, enjoying some chocolate!

I think it was a hit! Score one for Mom!!

Later that day came our traditional Valentine's Day Red Velvet heart cake!!  I made Beau a red velvet cake (a fave of his) on our first Valentine's Day.  And because I love tradition I have kept doing it!  So here is our 11th Annual cake!

My little "maker" (as she calls herself)!

I think I know why she likes to help me so much!!

Time for frosting and sprinkles!!

Ha!!

Yummo!

Love my brown-eyed boy!

This Sugar-baby loved his cake!!

The weekend after Beau and I were able to go to our Valentine's Banquet.  We had a great time having dinner and playing games with our friends!  Aren't we cute!?!

Cooking with Sadie!!

For Christmas I got Sadie a princess cookbook.  I think I may be the best mom ever (according to Sadie).  I have noticed there is not much in life Sadie seems passionate about...save cooking!!  She will stop ANYTHING if I invite her to cook.  I've (mostly) loved this wonderful bonding experience with my girl.

Our first recipe to try is Bulls Eye Pizza.

I made the crust and Sadie did the rest...

 Umm...ok.

Here goes the first bite!!
 It was a success!!

Our next recipe was a smoothie...

She was trying to hold her ears why she held the blender...

Then she realized it wasn't that bad...

Yumm!!

That same day we also decided to make some mini chocolate chip cookies for an after-school snack.

The best part!!

I've never known a kid with more facial expressions!!

I could get used to this!!

We tried a little healthier treat for our next cooking adventure...

Mixing the dip...

It needs to chill...

Another excellent treat!!

How about some scones!!

A little of this...a little of that...

Has anyone looked so cute kneading dough...

Well, maybe.

Brew some tea...it's time for scones!!

Here's the first bite...

Not too bad...

"I am an excellent cook!!"

 Next time: Monkey bread

Making the dough...

Elijah decided to join us...

Kneading is hard work!

Rolling the balls...

heading to the oven...

 Fresh from the oven!

Fish cakes anyone??

I think Elijah was playing on the phone so we missed our action shots.  But we still got some yummy fish cakes for dinner!!

I love that she loves cooking as much as I do.  Its so fun to share in this hobby with my sweet girl.  Here's to many more years and many more dishes!!
